If Sustainability Matters So Much, Why Is It So Hard?

We want greener products… but they cost more.
Cities need more housing… but also more green space.
Businesses aim to reduce impact… but must stay competitive.

Sustainability sounds straightforward until decisions have to be made.

That’s because it involves balancing competing priorities:
• Environmental goals vs economic realities
• Short-term needs vs long-term outcomes
• Individual actions vs system-level change

As highlighted by the European Environment Agency:

“Building a sustainable Europe isn’t an easy task, especially when faced with shocks and crises such as the global pandemic, war and inflation, and climate change.”

“Without a rapid and fundamental transformation of Europe’s production and consumption systems, it will not be possible.”

INHABITAT MSc courses like Climate change and built Environment, Waste Treatment, and Sustainable Business I include policy framework and approaches.

Throughout the INHABITAT MSc program, sustainability is explored through multiple perspectives, including policy, economics, culture, and business, helping students understand and navigate this complexity.
