🛰️ Mapping the Future: Why the EU Needs Experts in Remote Sensing & Geodata

Why should students in 2025 learn to work with drones, sensors, and satellite data?
⇒ Because sustainable cities, smart infrastructure, and climate resilience all start with accurate, real-time data, and Europe needs skilled people who know how to manage it.
📚 That’s why the INHABITAT Project includes a full 12 ECTS course on Remote Sensing & Geodata Management in Semester C (Spring 2025-2026).
In this module, students explore:
• Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) – from protocols to multi-hop architecture and simulators
• Drone systems – including design, flight planning, kinematics, and data transmission
• EU regulations and standards for drone-based data collection
• Open-source geo-spatiotemporal data from programs like COPERNICUS
• Full data workflows – from sensor-based acquisition to GIS-based analysis
• Mini-projects and lab sessions solving real-world environmental planning problems
Why does it matter?
Because solving Europe’s urban, environmental, and energy challenges requires data you can trust and people who know how to collect, structure, and act on it.
