Why Learn the Language of a Place?

Learning a new language is about understanding context.
History.
Social narratives.
The way people see themselves and their surroundings.

Language opens the door to culture, and culture shapes how societies approach politics, identity, sustainability, and everyday life.

Within the INHABITAT Project, the course Local Culture and Language: Italian (Semester C – 3 ECTS) offers students a cultural and historical exploration of Italy from unification to the present day.

Through discussions on politics, ecological issues, literature, cinema, and local customs, alongside introductory Italian language learning (A0/A1), the course provides a framework for understanding contemporary Italy through both cultural and linguistic lenses.
