INHABITAT Course about Climate Change & Environment

🌍 Building for a Warmer World: Why Climate Matters in Urban Design

Why should future urban planners learn about climate change?
Because the built environment both shapes and suffers from climate impacts, and we can no longer afford to build without sustainability at the core.

📚 That’s why INHABITAT Project includes a full 9 ECTS module on Climate Change and the Built Environment.

In this course, students explore:

  • The fundamentals of climate science and urban resilience
  • Sustainable building design, green certifications, and renewable energy integration
  • Life cycle assessment (LCA) of construction materials
  • How IoT and GIS tools help monitor environmental performance
  • Real-world case studies and policies that support climate-smart construction

Through hands-on projects and systems thinking, students learn how to design cities and buildings that reduce carbon emissions and withstand climate-related risks.

Why does it matter?
Because by 2050, cities are expected to contribute to 70% of CO₂ emissions.

INHABITAT MSc was designed to educate a new generation of professionals who can create a defense against extreme weather, energy pressure, and ecological disruption. And change starts with how we educate future professionals.
